TEMATISKA HELHETER

Kandidatprogrammet i samhällsvetenskaper erbjuder flera olika tematiska helheter: Barn och familj, Etniska relationer, Foreign reporting, Genusvetenskap, God förvaltning, Ledarskap och Social välfärd. Helheterna varierar mellan 15 och 35 sp. För att i betyget få en anteckning om avlagd helhet bör åtminstone 15 sp avläggas enligt anvisningarna. Enskilda studieavsnitt ur en helhet kan också väljas. Dock kan ett och samma studieavsnitt som en student avlagt räknas ingå i endast en helhet och sålunda inte till exempel både inom det egna vetenskapsområdet och inom en helhet i de valbara studierna.

The Programme is open for applicants from University of Helsinki and other universities who are studying in any of the fields of Journalism, Media and Communication. Students from our partners universities will be prioritised.

 

Timing

Recommended time for completion: At the end of bachelor’s studies or during master’s studies.

The course is arranged: Autumn term, period I and II.

 

Learning outcomes

 

Completion methods

Active participation in lectures, team work and workshops; course essays for the separate courses; participation and journalistic production as presented during the Foreign Reporting in Practice-course.

 

Prerequisites

Students are expected to have at least two years of Bachelor studies, with at least 25 ECTS in journalism, communication or media; alternatively Master students in journalism, media or communication.

 

Contents

This program consists of a core of three modules offered in English at the Swedish School of Social Science and the Faculty of Social Science (Journalism, Media and Communication, Political Science). The following courses are compulsory for the program:

The core program offers lectures, individual and team-based coursework, and a foreign assignment.

Optional modules will be offered yearly. Students can do a minor of 25–30 ECTS within this program, by choosing 2–3 courses in addition to the core modules. In 2017 the following courses are offered as additional:

 

Assessment practices and criteria

The courses are marked along a scale 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest). The criteria for each course are separately defined. Separate marks are given for each course.
