Target group 

Students of all faculties, students in the flexible study rights scheme (JOO), international students

Learning outcomes 

The course aims to activate the students’ oral language skills and make students confident about using the German language without fearing mistakes.

After completing the course, students

  • Can interact more confidently in easy everyday speech situations
  • Can give a short, simple presentation on a given topic
  • Can answer questions about their families, studies and home region as well as handle normal errands and affairs
Completion methods 

Teacher-instructed course with 26 hours of contact teaching and 26 hours of independent work.
Minimum course attendance: 75%

The course topics include family, education, studies, work, travel, culture and basic current events. The key vocabulary and phrases of these topics will be practised in class. Classwork consists of small-group assignments, a great deal of role play and pair work as well as oral presentations.

The teacher and students will agree on the topics in greater detail at the beginning of the course.
