Description
Learning outcomes 

After completing the course, students will

  • Be able to engage in multilingual interaction
  • Be able to consider the language skill level of their conversation partners
  • Be able to identify similarities and differences between German and French speech culture
  • Be able to discuss everyday topics in French/German
  • Understand key phrases in French/German
  • Be familiar with the basics of French/German pronunciation and orthography
 
Completion methods 
  • The course includes 26 hours of contact teaching and 26 hours of independent study.
  • Diverse study methods are utilised in contact teaching. A great deal of discussion exercises in small groups.
  • Compulsory attendance in contact teaching (75%) Completion of agreed assignments in time
 
Prerequisites 
  • Skill level A2 in one of the languages (French/German)
  • Interest in the other language (French/German) is enough.

Contents 
  • Topics include everyday life and leisure time activities, work, topical issues as well as the culture and history of French- and German-speaking countries.
  • Emphasis on spoken language use

  • Materials produced by the teachers, available for downloading/printing in the course‚Äôs Moodle area.
  • The study materials are partly chosen with the students.
 
Assessment practices and criteria 
  • Assessment is based on the learning outcomes. Regular and active classroom attendance is required.
  • The teachers will make a separate announcement on the written or oral assignments required for the course.
  • Continuous self- and peer assessment, as well as oral and written feedback by the teachers
