KLTO-998 Discipline-specific training and research ethics (30 ECTS)
The doctoral programme is responsible for organizing discipline-specific training
Research ethics (min. 1 ECTS) is a mandatory for all doctoral candidates
Doctoral candidates are allowed to take courses, which support their PhD project, organized by the other Doctoral Programmes and other Universities.
National scientific activities (max. 8 ECTS)
International scientific activities (max. 14 ECTS)
Book exams max. 10 ECTS
Journal Club max. 2 ECTS
Doctoral candidates pursuing specialist degrees in medicine and dentistry can include max. 15 ECTS of theoretical training of specialist training in a Doctoral degree.
Health-997 Transferable skills training (10 ECTS)
The Doctoral School in Health Sciences is responsible for organizing the transferrable skills courses and research ethics courses.
NEU-603 Koe-eläintiede / Laboratory Animal Sciences: Obligatory for all DSHealth doctoral candidates working with lab animals (if not completed before)
General language courses (other than transferrable skills courses organized by the Doctoral Schools) can be included max. 2 ECTS if a language in question is needed for a doctoral candidate’s PhD project or working life.
Leadership training or university pedagogy (both are optional) max. 5 ECTS. The registering code for leadership training Health-111 (if not registered yet).
Doctoral candidates are allowed to take courses organized by the other Doctoral Schools and other Universities.
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC STUDY MODULE (30 ECTS)
The objective of the substance specific study module is to provide the doctoral candidates with
A profound familiarity with their field and its social significance
An in-depth understanding of the field’s nature, key theories, concepts and research methods, the relation between theory and practice, and the practical applicability of the knowledge attained, as well as the ability to contribute to scientific knowledge
Sufficient skills in communication, argumentation and problem-solving, as well as other qualifications for demanding and multidisciplinary research and expert positions in Finland and abroad
